FAQ's
How did Creede Olive Oil come to be?
“The fondest memories are made when gathered around the table.”
- IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVE LISS –
At the turn of the millennium, Dave and Becky Liss packed up the van and began the trek from Austin, Texas to their new home in the old mining town of Creede, Colorado. From day one, they shared stories and delicious homecooked meals surrounded by family and new friends while fishing the rich waters of the Rio Grande River. Becky started selling her handmade jewelry out of a small cabin on the south end of Creede's historic downtown before opening up an art gallery and gourmet food shop at the current Main Street location. They brought high quality, imported olive oils and balsamic vinegars to the beautiful, small town's locals and visitors. In 2010, they opened the first tasting gallery in Southwest Colorado! Years later, after Dave's passing, Becky focused on her love of the culinary arts and healthy foods into the beloved business you can visit to this day.
Visitors and locals are still able to sample every available flavor of worldwide Extra Virgin Olive Oil and 'tradizionale' Aged Balsamic Vinegar all the way from Modena, Italy!
In addition to the great selections of oils and vinegars, the little shop also carries baked goods from Sunflour Cafe located down the valley in Monte Vista, premium bison raised in northern Colorado, and Pappardelle's Pastas (with many gluten-free options) out of Denver. You can also find gourmet grocery like pastas from Italy, pepper jellies from the fertile soils of Oregon, local award-winning salsas created by Creede locals, and hatch chile products from Fresh Chile Company. Creede Olive Oil Company also offers a great variety of gifts, kitchen and pantry items, olive oil skin care products, and custom gift baskets.
Custom labeled bottles area also available for weddings, special events and corporate gifts! Check out our Wedding/Corporate Page for more information!
As one of the few businesses open YEAR-ROUND in Creede, we appreciate your business!

Where do your oils and vinegars come from?
We import high-quality oils from all over the world including Chile, Tunisia, Greece and California. (Check out our Varietal Olive Oils to see what region we currently have in stock.)
All our oils are single-origin, first pressed and cold pressed to ensure the best quality with the highest health benefits. In addition, the oils are regularly laboratory tested for quality and purity.
Our vinegars are imported directly from Modena, Italy. Traditional cask-aged balsamics and specialty vinegars are very popular with our customers!\
How should I store my new bottle of oil or vinegar?
Both our oils and vinegars should be kept in a cool, dark, dry environment like your pantry or cupboard. Do not store near your stove, in the fridge or direct sunlight as this could tamper with the flavor and longevity of your product.
Our Extra Virgin Olive Oils have a shelf life of 6 months after opening. But the balsamic vinegars, because they have already been aged, have an indefinite shelf life.
